In Memorial Of Chris Reith

Christopher Daniel ReithAugust 2, 2000 — September 15, 2025Christopher Daniel Reith was tragically taken from us on September 15, 2025. He was the beloved son of Mark Christopher Reith and Lorraine Meloro Reith, and younger brother to Michael Reith.Born on Aug. 2, 2000, Chris grew up in Latham, New York. From a very young age, he always had a thrill for life and loved adventure. He enjoyed snowboarding, jet skiing, flying drones, and riding motorcycles. At just 10-years-old, Chris found the passion of his life — waterskiing. He quickly grew into an advanced, professional water skier where he could often be seen skiing barefoot, long jumping and other complex tricks.
He began skiing with X-Squad Waterski Show Team in Scotia and later joined the Electric City Water Ski Show Team in 2018, performing in many shows at Jumpin’ Jack’s in Scotia. He also competed at the regional level, earning numerous awards and accolades. He was a dare devil. You could find him jumping off of the Scotia bridge for a barefoot start, or going over the jump on his kneeboard, or even perform a barefoot pyramid as the climber. There wasn't anything Chris wasn't willing to try, as long someone would tow him.
Chris was a student of Shaker High School’s Class of 2018 and went on to attend Modern Welding School in Schenectady. After graduation, he worked as a welder while he planned his own startup business in 3D printing. His 3D printing of waterski equipment start-up website went live 2 days before his accident. The ECWSST was so excited to test his prototypes, and support him alongside changing the waterski game. He was very talented at creating prototypes for objects to print that could be used for both entertainment and problem-solving. He printed everything you can imagine, including just recently working on replacement parts for water skis. He was working on interchangeable water ski fins, as well as swivel bindings - all of which were more affordable, weightless, while surviving the durability - a water skiers dream. His dream may have been cut short - but the business model is not over and will prevail in his memory. Chris will be remembered for his amazing smile, his sense of adventure, his love for his family, friends, and his cherished rescue cat, Caster.
Chris will forever be remembered by the ECWSST with is sarcastic yet spontaneous ideas, and attitude. Chris loved the jump act. During the 2025 season, he was working on landing and mastering his front flip. With mastering his helicopters, this new trick was something he was set on completing and mastering. He made the jump act blossom. He made sure to make sure the other jumpers had a role model, even at his age, he wanted to provide instruction to those who were open to listen. He worked along side young adults, both male and female to guide them at making their jumping goals become a reality.
Although he may not be able the guide his teammates anymore, the ECWSST has decided to not let his vision fade. The ECWSST has set aside a "Chris Reith Memorial Fund" that will fund a ski team member yearly to provide them with professional instruction on bettering the jumping abilities.
